A trip to Julian

Today we decided to take the hour long trek to Julian (known for their apple pies, apple farms... pretty much all things apples). I get car sick on winding roads, especially when I am the passenger. The road out to Julian is nothing but a two lane winding road. I felt a little woozy, but nothing that would damper the trip. The parking was crazy busy, but we were able to get one of the last spots on the street.

The place we went is called Raven Hill Orchard. It has this kind of a la hippie feel. When you enter, there is a table with bags and a girl dressed in a midriff showing tank top, sandals and hippie pants. The bags cost $10, and you are welcome to fill them as high as you want. They also encourage you to taste the apples along the way. This relaxed atmosphere makes this place the perfect day trip for the kids.

Savannah and Carter loved the place. There was a country festival going on right next door. We had the live sound of country music while we walked the orchard picking all kinds of apples. We picked from Gala, Empire and Golden Delicious. The kids decided to take a break under one of the trees. They munched on apples and relaxed to the live music and cool summer breeze.

There is also a vineyard across the street with wine tasting (we will have to remember this next time we come)

On the way home we stopped off at Dudley Bread Company. They have the best bread and sandwiches.

This is definitely going to make it on our annual tradition list.
