Annual Snow day

Today was our annual trip to the snow with the Lott's. This will be our 3rd year going with them. Definitely a tradition in the making. Every year so far we have chosen a different location. The first year we went to Big Bear, then Palomar Mountain and this year Mt. Baldy.

Savannah has been going to the snow since she was a few months old. We are lucky that we live so close to the snow. It is easy for us to make a day trip out of it. The Abel's also joined us this year.

The drive up the mountain was so scenic. We drove through little tunnels, around the side of the mountain with gorgeous views of the fog rolling in and through small villages. I often wonder what sort of people live in these towns.  What do they do? How do they make their living?

Look at this cool tunnel we drove through going up the mountain.

The cool trees remind me of  somewhere out of movie.

Driving up, the clouds rolling in.

In order to get to the tubing park, you have to take the snow lifts. These were SCARY!!! My hands were sweating, my stomach was clenched. It takes about 15 minutes to ride up on the  chair lifts. The guys had the little kids (Carter and Isabella) in their laps - thank you men!!! and then Mishelle and I rode with the bigger kids sitting next to me. A little history - the chair lifts were made in the 1930's. I am sure they have been updated and safety tested. Either way it was scary. On the way down after our day of tubing, it started to snow hard. The snow was pelting me in the face and it was foggy. Straight out of a horror flick!!!

Not a good pic, but you get to see the men with the little kids in their laps. This was just the beginning.

Snapping some pics on the chair lift. I quickly put the camera away because I was afraid I would drop it or Savannah was going to fall out. Not that she would, but I am just saying.

Some pictures on the way down the mountain on the chair lift.

Once we made it to top we had a lot of fun tubing. Here are some pics and a group shot.

Soon we were all hungry. We headed down the mountain to grab something to eat at this cute little hole in the wall bar/restaurant. Savannah and JJ entertained themselves on the quarter slot machine - lol.

When it was time to end our day we walked outside and saw the clouds and fog making it's way down the mountain. The scene was enchanting.
